About

What Rail Set Atlas is, how the data is made, and what it does not do.

What this site is

Rail Set Atlas is an English reference for Japanese model train sets, starting with N gauge (1:150) trains from KATO and TOMIX. It answers one practical question: which product numbers do I need to build a complete train, and which of my sets belong together?

How the information is made

The site is run with AI doing most of the work and a person checking it. An AI system reads the makers' public product pages and schedules, records each value together with the page it came from and the date it was checked, and drafts the pages. A person reviews the evidence before anything is published.

  • Every set record keeps its source URLs and check date.
  • Each value is marked as verified (seen on the maker's page) or not confirmed. Values we could not confirm are shown as Not confirmed, never as "none" or "no".
  • Earlier editions and re-releases that changed are kept as separate records. A newer product is never treated as the same item as an older one just because it looks similar.

What we do not do

  • We do not test, run or review models. There are no ratings, running impressions or sound reviews here.
  • We do not show prices, stock or star ratings. These change quickly and are best checked at the retailer.
  • We do not use product photos or maker logos. Train illustrations are simple drawings, and brand names appear as text.

Corrections

If a product number, car split or date is wrong, please tell us through the contact page. We re-check the maker's page and update the record.

Rail Set Atlas is independent and is not connected with KATO, TOMIX (TOMYTEC) or any railway company.
